Kara Portier, ACSW
Kara works with adults and adolescents navigating a range of emotional and relational challenges, including difficulties with emotion regulation, patterns of avoidance or self-defeating behavior, and the impact of overwhelming life experiences. She is committed to creating a compassionate, non-judgmental space and brings a collaborative approach to therapy. Drawing on her interdisciplinary background, she takes a whole-person perspective that considers both internal experiences and the broader external systems that shape them.

Carolina Dos Santos, Ph.D.
Dr. Carolina Dos Santos earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Alliant International University, California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) in Los Angeles with emphasis in multicultural community clinical psychology. She completed her APA-accredited internship at Children’s Institute Inc., where she provided trauma-informed care to children and families with ethnically diverse backgrounds. Her clinical experience spans a variety of settings, including outpatient community mental health clinics, inpatient detox and substance use treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, and private practice. Dr. Dos Santos has worked with individuals across the lifespan working with adults, children, and adolescents in various settings offering her a comprehensive perspective on mental illness and treatment. Dr. Dos Santos has extensive experience providing evidence-based psychotherapies to individuals with trauma histories, and specializes in treating PTSD and mood disorders in adults and adolescents. Additionally, she is passionate about the team approach at CBTC for treating complex trauma and severe mental health issues. Dr. Dos Santos practices a wide range of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) for complex trauma and PTSD in adolescents, Seeking Safety for trauma and substance use in adults, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, and Mindfulness. Beyond therapeutic setting, Dr. Dos Santos has performed as clinical psychology teaching assistant to graduate students, and has also mentored several students navigating doctoral school experiences. She is a member of Psi Chi Honors Society since 2017, and an active member of American Psychological Association by providing assistance to the Continuing Education programs during 2024 and 2025 annual convention. Dr. Dos Santos’ clinical approach emphasizes social justice, intersectionality, and a deep respect for cultural and individual diversity. She is dedicated to creating an inclusive therapeutic environment where patients from all backgrounds and identities feel valued and understood. Her practice is informed by cultural competency and multicultural sensitivity, ensuring that care is tailored to the unique experiences and needs of each individual. She values authenticity, empathy, and collaboration in her therapeutic work. Dr. Dos Santos has provided services in English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Hasana Johnson, M.A.
Hasana is an advanced Doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. She holds a Master’s in Psychology from Pepperdine University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cal State Northridge. Her career began as a behavioral therapist, where she worked with children with autism while continuing her education. Over the years, she has gained diverse experience in both community counseling centers and Telehealth platforms. Hasana’s therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and guided by the balance of structure and compassion found in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She values intentionality in treatment while also maintaining the flexibility and empathy needed to meet each client where they are. Hasana is deeply committed to supporting survivors of trauma, as well as individuals struggling with anxiety, panic, depression, and suicidality.

Miranda Parent, M.A.
Miranda Parent is the Chief Extern at CBT California and sees both adolescents and adults. She is a fourth-year doctoral student earning her PsyD in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School, Anaheim Campus. This is her second training year at CBT California and is experienced with providing high fidelity, full model DBT, CBT, and CBASP. Miranda is experienced working with clients struggling with substance use, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and borderline personality disorder. Miranda’s research interests include mindfulness-based interventions and therapy outcomes with adolescents.

Caleb Spiro, M.A.
Caleb Spiro, MA (he/him) is a doctoral candidate earning his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University. He received his M.A. from Rutgers University and B.A. in psychology from Pitzer College. Caleb’s research interests include enhancing dialectical behavior therapy for adults, adolescents, and their families. Caleb has previous clinical experience working as a school therapist with adolescents and young children in school settings and working as a supervisor on the 988 crisis line. Caleb is trained in both CBT and DBT therapy and aspires to improve the lives of those with emotional dysregulation, developing psychopathology, and self-harming behaviors. He enjoys teaching, modeling and reinforcing skills for emotional resilience while highlighting individuals’ strengths. Caleb sees both adults and adolescents online and in the Beverly Hills office.
