Evan Slavit
Evan is a psychotherapist for New York Behavioral Health. He has an advanced degree from NYU, where he graduated with honors. He has worked with adults of all ages, working in community mental health and private practice settings. Evan has had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients, helping them navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, PTSD, relationship and attachment issues, OCD, addiction, and dissociative disorders. He draws from various techniques to tailor his work to your unique needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness. Evan aims to uncover the root of your struggles, heal past wounds, and find strategies that truly work for you. He looks to make therapy accessible, even for those hesitant to enter treatment. He empowers clients to guide session focus, and he uses psychoeducation to clarify their therapy goals and approach. Evan strives to truly understand your perspective, your challenges, and how you see yourself. He’s not the stereotype of a therapist who simply listens without engaging—he’s active in the conversation. He’ll ask questions, share his thoughts, and create a space that feels more like a free-flowing dialogue than something rigid. He also believes in gently challenging you, because you’re here to make changes and find what works for you. Together, you’ll uncover insights, explore solutions, and work toward your goals in a way that feels supportive and authentic.
